Mary&Millie

Photoshoot for ASOS

Arriving back in Preston on Thursday 19th July at approx 10:30pm I made my way back to my new house for next year, and for those who read the 'Where's My Keys?' post do not be alarmed I certainly did not make the same mistake twice! Walking through the door and flicking the light I nearly jumped out of my skin as my phone buzzed... I may have been knackered however, I some what found the energy to run upstair fresh up and grab a pair of heels and a clutch and head on out for drinks and a catch up with me cherub.

Students may have returned home, leaving Preston somewhat a ghost town riddled with chavs and no-so-pretty-boys (especially comparing to my recent perves watching Magic Mike), I still did not regret my discussion. -cannot beat a little dance and a cocktail.

Fast Forward » about 10 hours and that decision was perhaps questionable.. knackered I crawled out of bed and attempted to shake off the effects of last night. This is a highly un-recomendable move as I managed to crick my neck in the process. Grabbing the comfiest jumper and a pair of old faithful jeans, I stumbled down the stairs and out the door. With 5 minutes to spare I sourced my only cure... COSTA.

THE SHOOT

With my beautiful savourer in one hand I found my way to the Train Station where I met today's team. Greeted with a bunch of cheery smiles we moved to today's location for the shoot. The day started off fairly blue skyed however, an hour or so into the shoot and it soon changed its tune. You can always count on Preston for a bit of rain #truebritishsummer

Mary & Millie was founded by Poppy Waters, a graduate from UCLAN with a fab eye for style, with a  vision to provide affordable fashion to women. I for one definitely give the brand my backing!
The label hosts pop-up shops around the North which offering students a further 10% off their purchase, whilst also offering fabulous-fun-filled home parties! You could be the hostess with the mostest as you bag yourself 20% off your own purchases!

For more information on these events or if you want to book yourself a cheeky like house party do not hesitate to contact via the Facebook page.

I truly loved the day filled with all the gorge clothes (and the sneaky peaks of up and coming items for the brand). Guys I would definitely recommend this brand to you!

Roundup of the week...

This week has been a non-stop and action packed however, I am not complaining! I have absolutely loved every second but admittedly, I am feeling a little down hearted as to what next week holds; no photoshoots have yet to be pencilled in. BUT do not fear! I am going to focus all attention on getting my creative bug back on track, and hopefully bringing you some more inspiring/incentives to get down and crafty. So with my new mannequins waiting to be unwrapped, keep your eyes peeled as to what awaits my dearests.

Festival Fever Setting In

With all this sun we are having, it is making me feel super duper in the mood for a festival. Being in such high spirits I decide, to begin planning potential festive outfit for when I finally get to hit the fields and pop up them tents.

1. JUMPER, REDROCKFASHION, £29
2. FRINGE NIKE TOP, REDROCKFASHION, £24
3. HIGH WAISTED AQUA SHORTS, REDROCKFASHION, £32
4. OVERSIZED PAC-A-PONCO, TOPSHOP, £20
5. FESTIVAL STUD TALL, HUNTER, £155
6. WELLY SOCKS, HUNTER, £17
7.PINEAPPLE SUNGLASES, ASOS £12
8. STUDDED DENIUM COLLAR, REDROCKFASHION
9. NYLON BUM BAG, AMERICAN APPAREL, ASOS, £18
10. NATIVE FEATHER CLIP, TOPSHOP, £10
11. CREAM DITSY WRISTWEAR, MISS SELFRIDGE, £12
12. ROSE LASER CUT FALSE EYELASHES, PAPERSELF PAPER LASHES, ASOS, £12
13. MY ATTEMPT AT CATH KIDSON NAILS
14. SEMI MATTE LIPTICK, SCHIAP, NARS, £17.50

Festivals are definitely places to show off your playful side, experimenting with both fashion and beauty. I for one cannot wait to style up my festival looks, be it with amazing pieces such as these high waisted shorts. I love the fact they are high waisted, (you can get the crop top duo to work) but my fav feature has to be the studs! These add an edgy appeal to them, something I love to flaunt
Pairing them with the fringe top, I have a little obsession with fringe this season, its very hippie chic, ticking a the festival criteria box. Your there to have fun, so 'Just do it'! This catchphrase couldn't be more fitting with the festival spirits. To further the playful side of this look I have teamed it with the denim studded collar. Collars are a huge item trending this season, and set to last into the next; Hello investment buy. Whilst wearing above the fringe top, I also think it would look fab in the evening on top of the 'cool is the rule' jumper.
And finally footwear. No girl is festival fit without a pair of stand out wellies. I love these ones from hunter, with the added strong details of studs, I think it pulls in the detailing of the shorts and collar.

Finishing touches? Throw on some funky sunglasses, clip in those hair pieces, strap on your bumbag, layer up those bracelets, add some amazing eyelashes and work those lips with a neon lip -note the cross co-ordinating of neon pinks whilst careful clashing to add extra funky to the look.

For more fabulous pieces check out http://www.REDROCKFASHION.com/ or their ASOS Marketplace account. Or if you need a bit of inspiration why not have a sneaky look at their blog http://redrockfashionblog.blogspot.co.uk/.

FESTIVAL TIPS

NUMBER ONE:  Shorts are definitely a must! For one, you do not have to worry about accidental flashing (or someone of so very kindly lifting your skirt -you are at a festival), but also you have the ease of a simple pull down when it comes to those portaloos. You want to limit the amount of time spend in these as much as possible, self explanatory as to why -N.B take plenty of anti bacterial and spare loo roll!!

NUMBER TWO:  Do not forget your pac-a-panco!! Festivals are known for their temperamental weather. Do not get caught short in a down pour, leaving your freezing for the rest of the day. Just shove this in your bag, or attach to your bumbag to ensure the weather won't literally rain on your parade.

NUMBER THREE:  Stay on your regard with your belonging. Festivals maybe located on a field however, street-smart rules still appeal. A bumbag ensures that you can keep your eye on your money and phone at all times. The added bonus; you can jump around with your hands in the air without having the annoying bag strap slipping scenario!

NUMBER FOUR:  Pack plenty of loo roll and anti bacterial in your bag. It may be provided but think of the size of crowds, it soon runs out.

NUMBER FIVE:  Baby wipes are your new best friend. Easier way for a quick freshen up.

NUMBER SIX:  Dry Shampoo Dry Shampoo Dry Shampoo!! -easiest way to keep that mop with a freshly washed feeling.

With all this in mind you will definitely be fulfilling the role of a Festival Fashionista!

Today I'm Wearing

TOP PRIMARK
BANDEAUX FOREVER 21
SHORTS NEW LOOK
 FLORAL HEADBAND H&M
NECKLACE MISS SELFRIDGE
HAND RING TOPSHOP

We finally have some SUN guys and boy do I love it! With this in mind I wanted to get my ghostly pins out and let them catch some raze. I brought these shorts a ages ago, (I did want the topshop pinstriped ones however, they never had my size so I settled for these,) yet to wear them, and as the sun has its hat on, I thought it was the perfect opportunity.
I love the clashing of prints so decided to pair the top and stripes together, matching through the cobalt blue. I think the collar and button detail are fab! I was surprised to find this in Primark. -I'm not a usually fan however, I do manage to pick up the odd bits and pieces when I'm passing through.

So sugarplums what do you think? Like the clash or is this trash?
What do you think to my first outfit posting?

I Like To Doodle

My Fashion Illustrations

THIS WAS THE COLLECTION THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING FOR ME!
AFTER COMPLETING MY FIRST YEAR AT COLLEGE WE WERE SET AN ALMOST OPEN BRIEF, WE COULD PICK A SUBJECT MATTER WE WISHED TO PURSUE AND LITERALLY WERE LEFT TO OUR OWN DEVICES. I LOVED THE FREEDOM, AND AS IT WAS SUMMER TIME I TOOK TO MY SURROUNDINGS AND GOT A BIT CAMERA SNAPPY HAPPY. I WAS INSTANTLY DRAWN INTO THE VIBRANT COLOURS AND CONTRASTS. THIS THEN FELL HAND IN HAND WITH THE AW 10/11 COLLECTION DIOR COUTURE BROUGHT TO PARIS. THIS IS PROBABLY WHEN I READY OPENED MY EYES TO FASHION. I HAVE ALSO BEEN CREATIVE, KNOWN BY THE FAMILY AS THE ARTY ONE. HOWEVER, THIS SHOWED ME A NEW WAY TO UNLESH MY CREATIVE SKILL, AND I LOVED IT!

SINCE THAT DAY I HAVEN'T LOOKED BACK AND FASHION HAS BECOME MY NEW LESH OF EXPRESSION. I THINK ITS AMAZING HOW IT CAN COMPLETELY CHANGE YOUR MOOD OR REFLECT 'WHO YOU ARE'. FASHION IS A WAY OF SHOWING YOUR IDENTITY. AND I FOR ONE TOTALLY LOVE IT!

FROM THIS COLLECTION I THEN PRODUCED A SERIES OF INSPIRED ILLUSTRATIONS
-I LOVE ILLUSTRATING ALTHOUGH I STILL NEED TO PERFECT ON MY TECHNIQUES!

Today's Want

NEW DRESS FROM ZARA, £59.99
PURE LUSTING OVER THIS LITTLE NUMBER!

While I was vaca-ing it up in Tenerife I hit their Zara store, and instantly fell in love with this. Sadly my friend confiscated my wallet off me, as if I made this purchase it would of meant the remaining 2 nights would make up hotel-room-bound as my budget was already struggling. You can imagine my joy when I scrawled through their web page and found it!

I would rate this definitely an investment piece. The pastel tones are definitely set for this season's trend, along side its aztec feel that is rocking up in everyone's wardrobe. Due to its glamour and glitz feel it will remain a party number, the sequins make it fit for all the future social events (i.e. New Year).

Now to try and justify this INVESTMENT need-to-purchase-ASAP to Mumma bb
-think it will work?

Where Are My Keys?

Photoshoot ✔
Drama for the day..

Today was not only for the day of the photoshoot, but the day I would finally get to pick up the keys for my house next year. YAY.

After a long, but amazing, day in Wigan it was time to head back to Preston, this is when Alarms began to ring. Everyone's phone were going straight to answer service. Oh Boy..

After about a life time of waiting outside my new home I finally got in touch with someone. The problem: A mix up, my house mates thought i'd been and gone, and so hadn't left me a key whilst they headed on out for training (not to finish until 2am). Next move... blanket text messages to my nearest and dearest from Uni. 10 minutes later still no reply.
Solution?
A) A lonely Preston Park Bench
B) The 24/7 Library
C) .. well it was a Sunday so I was stuck for option

I opted for B) the Library. My lovely photographer, Amy Newton, dropped me off outside and aimed with a suitcase and a mobile (to carry out SOS messages to everyone I know in Preston or from Uni) I went to set up camp. Oddly the automatic doors would not open.. Strange I walked round the doors to notice a sign, "Summer Holiday Opening Hours 7:00am-7:00pm" Oh Boy, it was 6:59pm -just my luck. Thinking fast I decided to go get myself a hot chocolate from Wetherspoons, to calm my nerves and think of a new plan.

Just as the local Park bench began to look like my only option, a friend pulled through. They were coming to pick me up. THANK GOODNESS! So I finally found a bed to borrow until 6am, when they left for work. As I finally crawled into my pjs my phone whistled, about zillion texts messages off worried friends offering a bed or words of wisdom. After a few hours of zzzz I then trooped, in Smurf pj bottoms, to the beautiful Kate's home to grab a few more hours of shut eye before my journey to Wakefield.

Fighting off Competition

This is a bit out of date however, I fancied adding a post today so here goes..
hit << rewind and this is what I was up to this time last year..

College Exhibition

After exams were over every student in the Art and Design school are given a space. This space is to be filled with all your works and final pieces from throughout the year, it kind of like a Gallery and an evening to celebrate the hopefuls of tomorrow.

Here are some photographs as what I had to offer
-I love looking back on old memories!

Now moving on to the evening. Once we had finished our appreciation to all that was creative from New College, I met up with some of my beautifuls and hit the delights of Shrewsbury.

A few camera snappy moments to share...

So that was the Exhibition here comes the Competition...

I used my final piece from my A levels to enter the Shrewsbury Drapers Textile Competition. The night was filled with some amaze-ing entrances and I certainly didn't think I should a chance against the fierce competitors.

You can only imagine my shivers as my named was called for first prize! I'm not the most confident in front of audiences, and therefore I'm sure you can imagine how my legs suddenly turned to Jelly as I approached the stage to receive my prize.

THIS IS WHAT WAS FEATURED IN THE NEWSPAPER
-LATER FOUND OUT I ALSO HAVE  MY MUG SHOT PLASTERED
IN THE HALLS OF MY PREVIOUS COLLEGE
OH THE JOYS! -nothing like leaving a lasting memory
